DTB Opens New Branch in Fast-Growing Kitui Town

Diamond Trust Bank has expanded its presence in Kenya with the opening of a new branch in Kitui County, strengthening its position as one of the region’s fastest growing financial institutions. The move brings the bank’s footprint to 92 branches in Kenya and 161 across East Africa.

The Kitui branch is located at Chief Kitonga Building in Kitui Town and is expected to serve a wide range of customers including farmers, traders, small businesses and larger enterprises. The county has seen rising commercial activity in recent years, a trend the bank believes makes it an important market for long term growth.

DTB said the expansion supports its strategy to bring financial services closer to underserved communities while improving access to credit and banking products.

The bank has been increasing its branch network steadily, with new outlets launched in Mwea and Kilimani as well as the operationalisation of the Garissa branch earlier in the year.

George Otiende, the bank’s director of retail banking, said the decision to enter Kitui reflects a commitment to supporting local economic activity. He described the area as a significant commercial centre with a strong base of small and medium sized businesses. Otiende said the new branch will provide tailored financial services that help customers build sustainable enterprises and manage personal finances more effectively.

The branch will offer personal and business accounts, loans, mortgages, supply chain financing, cards and investment products. Customers will also have access to the bank’s digital platforms, which provide secure and convenient transactions alongside in branch assistance.

DTB said it intends to continue widening its reach across Kenya’s counties as part of a broader plan to create a more accessible and customer centred banking network.
