The Ministry of East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary nominee Beatrice Askul Moe has declared her net worth at Ksh100 million.
Speaking when she appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Askul said that the declared net worth belongs to her entire family.
She stated that the wealth that is in her husband’s name was amassed from pastoral activities, salaries, and humanitarian service.
“My net worth is Ksh100 million. It is for all of us (family wealth),” Askul stated.
During her vetting, Askul stated that since she is from the ASAL area, she is better placed to use her experience and upbringing to make sure pastoralists get what they deserve without being traumatized.
She told the Wetang’ula-led committee that should she get appointed, she would incorporate people from arid lands through the people and policies into negotiating their raised issues with the Ministry. for policy influence that favours them.
