EACC, Baringo County Launch Corruption Prevention Committee to Strengthen Integrity

By Michelle Ndaga

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has partnered with the Baringo County Government to launch and operationalize the County’s Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC), marking a key milestone in efforts to institutionalize integrity and good governance at the county level.

The launch, held at the Baringo County Headquarters, was presided over by EACC Commissioner John Ogallo and Governor Benjamin Cheboi.

Commissioner Ogallo emphasized that corruption undermines democracy and fuels inequality, adding that preventive strategies are crucial to building a culture of transparency that benefits all citizens.

Governor Cheboi pledged his administration’s full support, noting that the county will implement key preventive measures to enhance accountability and improve service delivery.

According to the 2024 EACC National Ethics and Corruption Survey, Baringo ranks second nationally in bribe prevalence, accounting for 6.94 percent of the country’s total. The new partnership signals a decisive move to reverse this trend.

This initiative is part of the EACC-GIZ Good Governance Programme, with Baringo joining Makueni and Embu as the first three counties to roll out the 2023 CPC framework. EACC reiterated its commitment to supporting counties in building ethical, accountable institutions that safeguard public resources and promote sustainable development.
