EACC ‘Impostor’ To Know The Fate Detention

A ‘fake’ EACC officer is set to know the fate of his detention later today.

Ibrahim Ngamau Wangari was produced before a Magistrate’s Court yesterday where EACC applied to detain him for 14 days.

Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki will deliver a ruling today at 10 am on whether or not the criminal court has jurisdiction to hear the application.

Ibrahim is reported to have solicited a Ksh.1 million bribe while posing as an EACC investigator pending the finalization of investigations and taking of plea before the anti-corruption court.

The suspect’s lawyers objected to the application arguing that the criminal court had no jurisdiction to hear a matter belonging to the special anti-corruption court.
However, EACC said, the application was about detaining the suspect pending a charge and not his trial.
