Following a complaint that a National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) officer was soliciting a bribe of Ksh 50,000 to avoid pressing charges over the illegal discharge of effluent from a building.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) conducted a sting operation earlier today.
During the operation, Cleophas Kiptoo Koech was apprehended while allegedly receiving the bribe.
Mr. Koech, a police officer assigned to NEMA and responsible for enforcing environmental regulations, is now in custody. He will be taken to Kilimani Police Station for further processing.
