The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has announced plans to expand its partnership with South Africa’s Special Investigating Unit (SIU) in a bid to bolster the fight against corruption across the region.

Speaking at the Integrity Centre in Nairobi while hosting an SIU delegation on a courtesy call, EACC Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamud said the engagement reaffirmed a long-standing relationship and paved the way for a more robust framework of cooperation.

“The fight against corruption knows no boundaries. Through strategic partnerships such as this, we strengthen our collective capacity to safeguard public resources, uphold integrity, and restore public trust,” Mr. Mohamud said.

Adv. JL Andy Mothibi, SIU Head and Chief Executive as well as Vice President of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA), hailed the meeting as a valuable platform for benchmarking, sharing best practices, and strengthening partnerships across Commonwealth Africa.

The collaboration will prioritise capacity building, joint training programmes, technical expertise exchange, staff development, and collaborative research. Both agencies said the joint initiatives aim to enhance case handling, strengthen prevention strategies, and boost recovery of public assets.

A formal cooperation framework will be developed to guide the implementation of the initiatives.
