EACC testifies in Obado’s case on alleged theft of public funds

EACC explained before Milimani Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Hon.Dr.Victor Wakumile, the Presiding Magistrate, how former Migori Governor Okoth Obado who is charged alongside his children amassed multi-billion estate at the advent of his first tenure in office as the Migori County Boss.

Investigating officer Robert Ronoh gave a detailed testimony disclosing that a list of the multi-billion properties were recovered inside Obado’s Son Dan Achola Master bedroom at their rural home in Migori county.

The officer took the court through almost of 22 registered properties in the names of Obado, his close relatives and personal aide Jared Kwaga.

Ronoh presented the whole list of the assets including the prestigious house Sh 34.5 million Loresho house and three houses near state house

Other properties include Obado’s Karen residence in Nairobi, three bedroom houses in Mbagathi, one flat apartment in Umoja, one paratial home in Arthi River in Machakos county.

The anti-graft officer told Milimani magistrate Victor Wakumile that the recovered list of assets form the bulky of the Sh 503 corruption case against Obado, his four children, Kwaga and his companies.

The officer also revealed that during the raids at Obado’s residents they recovered assorted documents of ownership of the Loresho house which has since been sized by government through Assets Recovery Agency.

The court heard the EACC detectives recovered an original letter of purchase of the Loresho property at Obado’s Master bedroom.

According to the letter dated August 12,2014, Obado’s PA is the purchaser of the Loresho property at Sh 34,525,000 from Kenya power Pension fund scheme.
