The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is set to host a high-level Ethics and Integrity Conference this Wednesday in Nairobi, with a focus on curbing the rampant falsification of academic and professional qualifications in Kenya.
Themed “Enhancing the Integrity of Academic and Professional Qualifications in Kenya,” the conference will be officiated by Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix K. Koskei. The event is expected to bring together a wide array of stakeholders from regulatory bodies, academia, law enforcement, and the human resource sector.
The EACC notes a growing concern over forged academic credentials, particularly in public service appointments, a trend that undermines meritocracy, integrity, and the quality of service delivery. In response, the conference aims to initiate a national conversation on academic fraud, foster strategic collaboration, and propose sustainable policy solutions to strengthen verification and accountability frameworks.
Participants will engage in experience-sharing, gap analysis in existing laws and policies, and the development of multi-agency strategies to safeguard the credibility of Kenya’s academic and professional systems.
Notable guests scheduled to attend include EACC Chairperson Dr. David Oginde, EACC Commissioners, Secretary/CEO Mr. Abdi A. Mohamud, MBS, and Public Service Commission Chairperson Ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri.
The EACC emphasizes that the conference is part of a broader national agenda to restore ethical leadership and reinforce public confidence in Kenya’s institutions.
