A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and common assault following an incident allegedly committed on the set of EastEnders, the long-running BBC soap.
The reported assault took place at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire, home to the iconic Albert Square set, on May 7, according to The Sun.
Hertfordshire Police confirmed that the suspect was arrested in connection with an incident on Eldon Avenue in Borehamwood, and is accused of offences involving two victims.
The man has been released on police bail pending further investigation.
A spokesperson for EastEnders declined to comment on specifics but said:
“While we would never comment on individuals, EastEnders has on-site security and well-established procedures in place to safeguard the safety and welfare of everyone who works on the show.”
The BBC has not issued an official statement, and the identities of the alleged victims and suspect have not been disclosed. Police investigations are ongoing.
