The government has announced the closure of a section of the Eastern Bypass to pave way for construction works.
The crucial link is set to be closed at the Kangundo road junction to pave way for bridge works as stipulated in the dualling of the 28km road.
“Kura wished to notify the public that a section of the Eastern Bypass at the Kangundo Road junction overpass will be closed for bridge construction from March 3, 2022, to May 3, 2022,” reads the notice.
As a result, drivers travelling to Embakasi will be detoured to the slip lane beneath the overpass.
Kura has encouraged vehicles and pedestrians to use caution when approaching this stretch and to fully adhere to diversions as directed by traffic signage and traffic marshals on the scene.
“We ask for the public’s patience while we work to improve road safety and urban mobility,” the warning says.
The Eastern Bypass is on the verge of being turned into a dual carriageway at a cost of Sh12.2 billion with only four months left.
