Eastleigh Home Invasion: DCI Pursue Ugandan Suspect After House-help Assault

In a shocking incident on Friday, November 1, 2024, an armed assailant wielding a hammer launched a violent home invasion at Ushirika Tower, leaving one house-help gravely injured and a family’s possessions significantly compromised.

Around 4:40 PM, the assailant, identified as a Ugandan national, breached security at the high-rise residential building with the help of an accomplice, a recently hired house-help named Everlyne, also from Uganda.

Together, they ascended to the sixth floor, targeting the apartment of a Somali tenant who was away with his children at the time.

Inside, the attackers found 20-year-old Hakimo Muhidin, the Somali house-help, and commenced a brutal assault. Eyewitness reports indicate that Muhidin suffered multiple injuries, including a broken tooth and trauma to her hands, head, and legs. Disturbingly, she displayed signs of being whipped, with visible marks on her back.

During this horrifying episode, the assailants made off with numerous valuable items. Stolen goods included pieces of gold jewelry, an unspecified sum of cash in Kenyan Shillings (KES) and U.S. dollars, along with four laptops belonging to the family.

Following the attack, Hakimo Muhidin was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. She has since been discharged and is recuperating at a relative’s residence in the nearby Tassia estate.

Everlyne, who had only joined the household three weeks before the incident, fled the scene alongside the hammer-wielding intruder. The Somali tenant’s wife was not present during the invasion, having traveled to India for medical treatment.

DCI are actively investigating the incident. They are seeking further details surrounding the violent invasion and the ongoing whereabouts of the suspects.
