Normally during the festive season, most of the Nairobi residents travel upcountry for Christmas which is usually a major boost to the transport sector.
This number has largely decreased. Uzalendo News spent the day the Country bus in Nairobi where most people board buses to upcountry.
The Country bus station is usually crowded with people scrambling to book a bus to upcountry but this year things are different from only a few people.
John Kamau a driver who plies the Nyandarua route has worked at the country bus for 30 years. He tells us this festive season there have been no travelers as usually experienced in the last festive seasons.
“The economy is not conducive and Kenyans have no money to travel,” he says.
According to Kamau, the political instability experienced in every general election has worsened the country’s economy.
At such a time traffick jams were not being experienced in the city but this festive season Nairobians are experiencing traffic even if not as heavy as in the normal days.
