Police in Uganda are investigating the death of Eddy Okello, a Manchester United fan who died suspiciously hours after the match on Sunday.
Okello, who lived in Lira City East Division, was discovered dead in his bedroom on Monday afternoon, according to the Monitor.
According to the publication, Okello left home at about 6.30 p.m. on Sunday to watch Manchester United vs. Liverpool at a local trading centre, according to a police report.
He is claimed to have gone home at 9.30 p.m. but was “not feeling well” after watching Liverpool’s 7-0 victory against Manchester United.
“His mother served him dinner but he did not eat it since he was not feeling well. Then he went into his house and slept,” North Kyoga district police spokesperson SP Patrick Okema told Uganda’s Monitor.
The police spokesperson added that the deceased’s father heard his (Okello’s) phone ringing in his house on Monday morning. He wondered why he hadn’t gone to work, only to find out later that he had died on his bed.
