Editorial: Abortion Bill must fall, Catholics are spot on

The Catholic Church has called out the Reproductive Health Care Bill 2019 for what it is. A ploy to auction Kenya for 20 cents by anti-life activists. Strong words these. But for a good cause.

Catholic Bishops have maintained their position on abortion…maintaining that life starts at conception. The church has prescribed birth as the only option to pregnancy…and demanded concurrence from the Givernment on their position.
The Bishops are clear: the Bill is unlawful since it flies against the dint of the Constitution.

On this, we concur with the Bishops. Graciously, Bishops have agreed to lobby and engage the Senate to throw away the stinking bill. There are good reasons here.

The Covid 19 virus has wiped out the aging population in Europe and America. There is concern about the trajectory of the disease in Kenya and Africa. The Catholic Bishops position, and rightfully so is that there are adequate resources for all generations of Kenyans.

But these resources have been corruptly plundered by a few greedy merchants who must be stopped. The Church position, and we concur, is that there is need to firmly deal with graft, which is more urgent that population bills.
Senate, please take heed.

The Bishops have a silent following that must be listened to. The time is now.
