Education CS Magoha appoints new College placements CEO

Education Ministry has appointed Agnes Wahome as the new Chief Executive Officer at the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). – By Gerald Gekara.

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha confirmed her appointment, citing her major input in the education sector.

“As the second Chief Executive Officer at the Placement Service, her immediate focus is to work with the Board to embark on the development of the second Strategic Plan for the organisation, revamp career guidance programmes and enhance partnerships for the same; review the placement criteria in consultation with stakeholders, and initiate preparations for the alignment of student placement with the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC),” CS Magoha’s statement read.

Wahome, who has been serving in acting capacity since November 13 last year, replaces John Muraguri who retired.

Wahome has been actively serving in the public and private sectors, including NGOs such as USAID, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (USA).

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service is a state corporation mandated to coordinate the placement of Government-sponsored students to universities and colleges.

Other duties include disseminating information on available programmes, their costs, and the areas of study prioritized by the Government, collect and retain data relating to university and college placement and advise the Government on university and college student placement.
