Education Ministry Changes Half-Term Breaks

The Ministry of Education has revised the dates for the second term half-term break. Originally, the break was scheduled from June 20 to June 23.

However, in a circular dated May 24 to all County Directors of Education, the break has been moved to:

Learners in boarding schools are expected to report back on June 30.

The Ministry acknowledges the disruptions caused by the delay in school opening due to floods.

  • This revision aims to ensure that schools have sufficient time to cover the curriculum, particularly for students preparing for national examinations in November.

  • Possible Extension of Second Term

  • While the national exam dates remain unchanged, Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu previously indicated that the second term might be extended.
  • This extension is intended to allow schools to adequately cover the syllabus, especially for candidates preparing for national examinations.
  • The specific details of the extension will be announced later.

The Ministry acknowledges that these changes may require adjustments to planned activities and school schedules. Schools are advised to review their plans and make necessary modifications.
