Traore on target as Villa ease through
Bristol City 0-3 Aston Villa
There was another debut to remember at Ashton Gate as new signing Bertrand Traore scored on his first Aston Villa appearance as Dean Smith’s side beat Bristol City 3-0.
Anwar El Ghazi put Villa ahead after good work by Keinan Davis before Traore, who joined Villa for £17m from French side Lyon last week, hit a wonderful side-footed volley.
Fellow new signing Ollie Watkins added a third in the second half as Villa set up a fourth-round tie with Stoke City next week.
Dream debut for Delap
Man City 2-1 Bournemouth
Teenager Liam Delap marked his senior debut with a goal as defending champions Manchester City beat Bournemouth 2-1 in the Carabao Cup third round.

The 17-year-old forward, son of former Derby, Sunderland and Stoke midfielder Rory Delap, struck in the first half, latching on to Phil Foden’s fine ball before placing a composed finish beyond the goalkeeper.
Sam Surridge equalised but Foden stabbed in the winner late on.
Victory means City travel to fellow Premier League side Burnley in the fourth round.
No better feeling’ for Delap after debut goal
Liam Delap said there was “no better feeling” after marking his senior Manchester City debut with a goal.
“Since I was a boy all I dreamed of was playing senior football,” Delap said.
“To make my debut tonight and get a goal, there is no better feeling to be honest.
“It was a bit of a shock to be put in the starting lineup but I took it with a pinch of salt and just worked my hardest.
“I’ve got to keep my feet on the floor, keep working hard in training.
“It is a good positive step for the future. The manager is including all the young boys in the squad and giving them experience, so there can’t be anything better.”
Reds hit seven at Lincoln
Lincoln 2-7 Liverpool
Back to domestic matters now and Liverpool thrashed League One Lincoln 7-2 to reach the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
Teenager Curtis Jones and January signing Takumi Minamino both scored twice, with Xherdan Shaqiri, Marko Grujic and Divock Origi also on target.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will now host Arsenal in the next round.
Curtis jones “exceptional talent” praise by boss Jurgen Klopp after his double in the win over Lincoln.
“We will have some fun with him I am pretty sure in the future,” Klopp said of the 19-year-old, who has now scored five goals for his hometown club.
“Both goals were difficult, for the second one the first touch was absolutely exceptional between two opponents and then he opens up and sees the opportunity and finishes it off.”
