The Kericho Anti-Corruption Court has convicted eight Kericho County officials of corruption.

According to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the officials face charges of abuse of office, conflict of interest, and violation of procurement guidelines in connection with the irregular award of a Ksh5.6 million road construction tender.

The officials include; Peter Kipyegon Koskey, Lillian Chepkoech, John Kimutai Rotich, Japheth Kipngeno, Joash Chirchir, Stanley Ruto, Charles Mabwai, Aaron Njoroge and Jawlink Logistics Limited.

The impugned tender was for the construction of Bae-Kapsimotwet-Kibaraa Road in Belgut Sub-County within Kericho County.

The eight officials had pleaded not guilty to the charges before Chief Magistrate Samuel Mokua, but after a hearing, the court determined they had a case to answer.

The court has scheduled mitigation and sentencing for June 6, 2022.
