A mother has charged in Court after allegedly receiving over Ksh 7 million from his son currently serving Imprisonment at Kamiti Maximum Prison.
Pamela Akinyi Wara is alleged to have received money believed to have been defrauded from an unsuspecting Lady by prisoners at Kamiti Prison.
According to the Police, Akinyi on diverse dates between May 1, 2020, and September 17, 2020, conspired with her son, Hesbon Onyango Nyamweya who is allegedly serving life Imprisonment at Kamiti Maximum Prison to steal the said money.
The Court heard that the two together with others not before Court conspired to steal Ksh 7,656,500 the property of Purity Karambu Laird.
She was also charged with handling stolen money where the prosecution informed Court on diverse dates between May 1, 2020, and September 17, 2020, Akinyi dishonestly undertook the retention of Ksh 7,656,500 knowing or having reason to believe the money to have been acquired through theft.
Appearing before Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate, Susan Shitubi, the accused denied the charges and was released on Ksh 2 million bond.
