A middle-aged woman is being treated at Makindu Hospital following an elephant attack.
According to reports, the attack occurred on Saturday in the Ngiluni area of Mtito Andei ward.
The attack comes just hours after the funeral of a 65-year-old man killed by an elephant in Ngomano Athii, a nearby village.
Local leaders, led by Francis Mulwa, Mtito Andei Ward MCA, have accused KWS of failing to protect the neighboring Tsavo West and East parks, causing farmers to suffer losses and grief.
This year, the government has set aside Ksh 1.1 billion to compensate victims of wildlife conflicts. There are already 2,600 claims that have not been paid for.
