Elgeyo Marakwet Chief Surrenders Two Illegal Firearms To Officers

The Chief of Koibirir Location in Marakwet East Sub-County handed over two AK47 assault rifles to the General Service Unit Camp at Tot.

According to National Police Service (NPS), Mr. Lorem handed over the rifles which he had received from his residents following a fruitful meeting with Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General Mr. Hilary Mutyambai.

“The first rifle was received from a resident of Kisiwel Sub-Location, while the second rifle was surrendered by a resident of Kowow Sub-Location,” NPS tweeted.

The County Commissioner presided over the handing over exercise, which was attended by the Deputy County Commissioner and the Operations Commander.

The Elgeyo Marakwet Multi-Agency Security Team continues to urge members of the public to take advantage of the ongoing disarmament exercise and voluntarily surrender all illegal firearms in their possession.
