Elgeyo Marakwet Surrenders 21 Assault Rifles, 13 Rounds Of Ammunition

Residents in Elgeyo Marakwet County have surrendered illegal firearms, including 21 assault rifles and 13 rounds of various caliber ammunition, as demanded by the government.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), this came as a result of the imposition of a curfew and the subsequent multi-agency operation in the county.

“Other successes include; arrest of 107 people for various violations, impounding of 13 motor vehicles,14 motorcycles, 36 arrows, and recovery of 7 cows and 18 goats,” the NPS tweeted.

Today, Mr. Maalim Mohamed, Regional Commissioner Rift Valley, accompanied by GSU Commandant Mr. Douglas Kanja, led a delegation of senior security officers from the National Police Service and the National Government Administration Officers to assess progress.

The team lauded the security officers and thanked the residents for their ongoing support and collaboration.
