Two Firearm Traffickers Arrested In Elgeyo Marakwet

The two suspects have been arrested in Elgeyo Marakwet in possession of illegal weapons following a thorough police search in the area.

Abraham Kiptum and Brandon Kilimo were arrested and taken to Tot Police Station awaiting arraignment in court.

Police recovered several rounds of ammunition and other weapons from the suspects.

According to the National Police Service, this follows an operation that was conducted in Kaben Village, Tot Division, Marakwet East Sub-County.

Police recovered 76 rounds of ammunition, 7 empty magazines of an AK-47 rifle, four empty magazines of a G-3 rifle, one AK- 47 pouch and one side pouch.

Police also recovered; two Angola shirts, one jungle green lanyard, banned industrial chemical namely Furon 5GR, one APS member of inspectorate pullover, one Green jungle trouser, 43 arrows, seven bows, three quivers and assorted personal items,” police added.

The authorities urged members of the public to be vigilant and pass information to security agencies in order to restore peace in the area.
