Karungo wa Thang’wa, a former Kiambu County Executive Committee member, has been elected to the Kiambu Senate seat.
He won the election with 579,411 votes.
Thang’wa defeated Waithera Michelle Macharia, who garnered 38,534 votes, Wangondu George Njoroge, who received 7,566, and Wanjiru Joseph Kamau, who received 6,840 votes.
Thang’wa will now take over for outgoing Senator Kimani Wamatangi.
Senator Wamatangi has been elected governor.
He competed against six other IEBC-approved candidates.
