Community Health Promoters (CHPs) have been lauded for their crucial role in advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by bringing essential health services closer to households.

Their efforts were celebrated in Embu during a Public Engagement Forum attended by Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni, Governor Cecily Mbarire, and other Mt. Kenya leaders.

The forum highlighted the national government’s support under President William Ruto, who has ensured the training and timely remuneration of CHPs to strengthen primary healthcare delivery.

Embu County reported that 55% of its residents are now registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA), guaranteeing free healthcare at Levels 2, 3, and 4 facilities.

To boost service delivery, the county is recruiting more nurses and doctors, renovating four Level 4 hospitals, and ensuring a steady supply of medicines.

Beyond healthcare, leaders emphasized that government investments in modern markets, an industrial park, and improved road infrastructure are driving inclusive economic growth and bringing development closer to every household.

Governor Mbarire and PS Muthoni reaffirmed their commitment to working with local leaders to strengthen healthcare systems and advance sustainable development for the people of Embu.
