An American woman has pleaded with the Kenyan government to help her reunite with her daughter after her Kenyan husband fled away with her.

According to Emely Sarita, the mother of the minor, she was granted custody of the minor by the children’s Court on September 20, 2022.

The court directed that the said husband should hand over the minor to the mother at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

It was this ruling that made her travel to Kenya to pick up the minor after her husband promised to comply with orders.

However, the father of the child declined to surrender the said child.

The mother raises concerns as to the whereabouts of the child whom she says might be under the care of her Kenyan grandmother.

According to her, the minor spends $ 200 per month for clothing, $50 for shoes, $300 for food, and $100 weekly for entertainment. Health care and education for the child are free as per American Laws.

She proceeded to say that she want the best for her child and that she has undergone mental anguish from the separation of the child.

She said that although the husband is of many means and can provide for the child, she has been solely providing for the child.

Further, she said that during the substance of the marriage, the husband was always violent towards her.

“He used to beat, mistreat and throw me out of the house with the minor. The minor would be present during most of the occasions when the plaintiff was inflicting physical abuse on me and this affected the minor mentally. Even as we lived together, I had to shoulder most of her needs with little or no help” said the mother.

She further said that upon separation in 2018 and later divorce in 2020, the husband began legal battles in a bid to frustrate her efforts to provide the best possible care for the child.

The husband, later on, took flight with the child who was supposed to report to school on September 6, 2022, but this was impossible since she was still in Kenya.

On September 9, 2022, the husband tried to acquire the minor’s passport by fraudulently pretending he would travel back to the USA.
