End of an ERA: Head Of Public Service Kinyua Exits Office As Felix Koskei Succeeds Him

Long-serving career civil servant and Head of Public Service Dr. Joseph Kinyua today handed over the mantle to Felix Kosgei, whom President William Ruto appointed.

This concludes one of the most distinguished careers in public service, during which he served in four administrations.

Kinyua described his 44 years of service as profound in his brief speech following the inauguration of his successor.

He appreciated former presidents as well as President William Ruto for allowing him to serve under their leaderships.

“Your Excellency sir, I handover the mantle of coordinating the public service to a new generation of civil servants. I thank you and your predecessors for according me the privilege to serve in four successive administrations, notably the second, third, fourth and in your administration,” he said.

Kinyua described his four decades in public service as a profound journey.

“It has been a profound honour and a humbling journey. I’m immensely grateful that I was accorded the rare opportunity to serve Kenya and the great men chosen by the people of Kenya to be presidents of this country and to lead it.”

Kinyua’s final task as head of public service was to swear in Felix Koskei, who has taken his place.

Koskei is also the State House Chief of Staff.

The ceremony took place at State House Nairobi, where other Cabinet nominees also took their oaths of office as they prepare to begin work in their new capacities.
