Kenya’s vibrant radio landscape is set for a major shake-up following the surprise announcement by veteran radio host Sheila Kwamboka, popularly known as “Kwambox,” that she is exiting the airwaves after 13 years.
In a heartfelt statement released Tuesday, Kwambox revealed that she will host her final Kiss100 radio show on Wednesday, April 30.Â
While she stopped short of disclosing her next move, she hinted at venturing into new territory.
“Tomorrow is the end of a very significant chapter in my life! For 13 years, radio has been my identity! It’s time for change,” she said.
Kwambox has enjoyed a decorated career in the media, starting off as a journalist with K24 before making a bold switch to radio.
She cemented her place at Homeboyz Radio, where she hosted the popular *Ignition Drive* for seven years, becoming a fan favorite for her humor and fearless commentary.
In 2019, she joined Vybez Radio and later made a high-profile move to Radio Africa Group in January 2023, co-hosting the morning show with Kerry Martin and building a powerful online presence.
Outside radio, Kwambox is no stranger to the limelight — with appearances on Big Brother Africa, a stint in modelling, and a Miss Tourism Kenya crown in 2005.
As she signs off the mic, her fans are left both nostalgic and curious about what’s next. One thing is certain — Kenya hasn’t heard the last of Kwambox.
