KBL Wins Coveted Energy Award

Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) has been awarded the Energy Management Compliance Certificate from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) for its compliance with the Energy Management Regulations, 2012.

KBL’s proactive measures, including an investment-grade energy audit, an energy investment plan, an energy management policy, team training, and a dedicated Energy Manager, have led to substantial energy savings, surpassing targets in both electricity and Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) consumption.

The savings amount to over 50% of the energy conservation measures identified in the initial audit.

The EPRA Director General, Daniel Kiptoo Bargoria, praised KBL’s commitment to energy efficiency not just for regulations but also for business sense.

KBL’s efforts contribute to Kenya’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) towards the Paris Agreement on climate change and ease the strain on the National Grid and the entire energy supply value chain.

KBL’s outstanding performance in energy efficiency has earned them several awards, including the Overall Energy Management Awards in 2019 and 2022.

Their most significant achievement is the launch of their Biomass Plants in 2022, positioning them as a trailblazer in environmental stewardship and conservation.
