EPRA Flags 18 Petrol Stations, 10 LPG Facilities For Being Non-Compliant

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has found eighteen petrol stations and ten LPG facilities to be non-compliant.

According to EPRA, a total of 7,270 tests were conducted at 1,529 petroleum sites between April and June 2023.

The tests revealed that 1,511 (98.82%) of the sites were in compliance. However, eighteen (1.18%) of the sites’ tests were found to be noncompliant.

Eleven of the eighteen stations have since been closed, and the remaining ones have court cases pending.

The non-compliant stations are: Neversoft Filling Station in Dandora, Nairobi, Wilbur Petroleum in Kajiado, Kaptama Filling Station in Bungoma, Station One Filling Station in Kaplamai, Trans Nzoia County, and Obola Filling Station, Migosi Junction in Kisumu.

Others are Ilama Enterprise Filling Station in Muranga, Ndori Roadside Filling Station, Bellas Filling Station Ng’iya, and Maxoil Filling Station Sidindi in Siaya.

EPRA also flagged Chaka Filling Station in Nyeri, Hokkaido in Makadara, Machakos, and Alysent in Taita Taveta.

Penta-Lever Energy and Evolving Filling Stations in Vihiga, Goodwill Oils Service Station in Baringo, OLA Energy Maua Service Station in Meru, and Lukolis Filling Station in Busia all suffered the same fate.

At the same time, a truck bearing the number plates KCC 241Y and ZD 8425 was impounded for ferrying diesel adulterated with Kerosene meant for export.

Meanwhile, the Authority has flagged 10 facilities over Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) malpractices.

In Nairobi, there are seven facilities: Afko Gas Limited, City Gas Limited, Outdoor Gas Limited, Geogas Limited, Depar Limited, Points Merchant Limited, and an illegal site in Kware, Donholm.

EPRA also raided Juja Energy and Gas Limited in Kiambu, Gas and Lubricants Trading Kenya Limited in Kajiado, and Swift Energy distributors in Machakos.

County Gas, Amaan Gas, Max Gas, Kerry Gas, Kendy Gas, City Gas, Royal Gas, Swift Gas, County Gas, and Wajiko Gas were among the brands supplied by the aforementioned LPG distribution facilities.

Other brands include Gasky, Tri-Gas, and Pure Gas. According to EPRA, all of the cases are under investigation and will be prosecuted later.

The Authority has urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspected cases of illegal LPG cylinder trade.
