A middle-aged woman has been arraigned in court where she faced charges of stealing from Equity bank.
Regina Njambi Kitamuni is said to have stolen Ksh 4.4 million from Equity Bank, Tom Mboya branch in Nairobi.
She is believed to have colluded with other culprits yet to be arrested to steal from the said bank on diverse dates between the 8th and 14th day of February in 2019.
The said money was later on traced to her bank account number which has so far been frozen.
She however denied particulars of the crime before SPM Bernard Ochoi of Milimani Law Courts.
Her defence lawyer applied to have the court grant her reasonable bond terms stating that she is a victim of circumstances and promised to prove this before the Court as the case goes on.
He further told the court that the accused is aged and that she has children who depend on her. He also lamented that the lady has financial constraints and that she is innocent until the Law proves the contrary.
The state on the other hand did not oppose her release on bond. The court, released her on a Bond of Ksh 1 million with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 500,000.
The case proceeds on October 13, 2022 for pretrial.
