According to the DCI, Nairobi Hospital Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo could have been murdered by a minor.
The DCI claimed in a statement on Friday that they had identified the suspect, who they say is between the ages of 15 and 17.
The new information came to light after the DCI recovered clothing thought to have been worn by the suspected female minor in Kibra, Nairobi.
“The clothes, a red checkered shirt and a grey pair of animal-print pants, were found in a semi-permanent wooden shack in Bombolulu village, deep inside the sprawling Kibira settlement,” DCI said.
The suspect is said to have taken her KCPE exam at the Dagoretti-approved school between 2021 and 2022, according to DCI.
Maigo was murdered in the early hours of September 15, 2023, at his home in Woodley, Nairobi.
The minor who was apprehended leaving the victim’s residence at Woodley Annex -Upper is believed to have been involved in the most heinous murder before fleeing through the back door, according to the DCI.
Two blood-stained knives, believed to be the murder weapons, were recovered from the crime scene.
“As detectives work through the night to apprehend the female suspect, members of the public are asked to provide any information that could lead to his immediate arrest.”
On Thursday, September 14, neighbors reported hearing the two arrive home and play music until late. Neighbors at the Woodley Annex apartment reported hearing Maigo groan in agony.
They decided to go to his door and knock, only to be met by a woman who informed them that everything was fine and she was looking for the keys to open it.
The lady peered through the window, claiming she couldn’t find the key. The neighbours could hear Maigo groaning in pain and pleading for help.
The lady in the house refused to open the door, prompting the neighbours to notify the compound’s security.
They requested that no one from the house leave while they went to report the incident. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered the woman suspected of the crime had escaped.
