Eric Omondi Charged Over Monday ‘Protest’

Comedian Eric Omondi has been charged with creating a disturbance by shouting and erecting a barrier along Kenyatta Avenue.

Omondi appeared before Senior principal magistrate Zainab Abdul where he was accused that on 3rd April at 11.30 in the morning, he erected a barrier along the road and while standing on top of it, he shouted hence causing a disturbance and inconvenience to road users.

He denied the particulars of the charges and was freed on a cash bail of Kshs 5000.

His lawyer Danstan Omari however in defence told Court that the comedian was fighting on behalf of hungry Kenyans.
“Your honour, before you is an international comedian who has created jobs for millions of Kenya through his comedy. I urge this court to release him on a personal bond or a Cash bail of ksh 1000.”, Omondi could have been shooting a skit for his comedy and the police could not send it.

The case will be mentioned 13th April, this year.
