Estonian Coding School //kood Expands to Ukraine and Kenya

Estonian-based programming school //kood has officially expanded to Ukraine and Kenya, marking a strategic milestone in its global development mission.

Supported by the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV), this initiative aims to equip adults in both countries with hands-on IT skills tailored for today’s fast-evolving tech industry.

In Ukraine, the project is operating under the name kood/Zhytomyr, in partnership with Zhytomyr Polytechnic University.

The inaugural intake will enroll 100 students through a hybrid learning model that blends online and in-person instruction, an impressive feat considering the challenges posed by the ongoing war.

To support the program, the city of Tallinn has donated computers and monitors. Ukrainian officials recently visited Estonia to better understand the school’s innovative, peer-led curriculum and to engage with key project partners.

In Kenya, the newly launched kood/Nairobi will begin with a three-week coding camp called “Selection Sprint.” Participants who excel will progress into a one-year online training course delivered via //kood’s cloud platform, which can be accessed from anywhere.

The program is designed to nurture Kenya’s tech talent pool, with the goal of enabling graduates to work remotely for international companies, launch startups, or pursue careers in software development and cybersecurity.

Founded in 2021 in Jõhvi, Estonia, //kood has already trained over 1,100 students through six cohorts, with more than 300 graduates now working in the tech sector.
