The reggae sensation Etana has voiced her frustrations following the unexpected cancellation of her highly anticipated concert scheduled for December 7.
In a recent statement on social media, she suggested that politics and rivalry may be behind the disruption, particularly in light of a competing show featuring Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz on the same night and in the same vicinity.
Etana, known for her powerful vocals and uplifting messages, claims her event had been promoted long before the announcement of the competing concert.
“Then soon after that, I heard their show was postponed,” she remarked.
The multi-talented artist expressed her disbelief as she alleged that authorities intervened to prevent both shows from taking place in the same area.
“All this politics and drama for one girl. I wonder who is behind it all. Why are you so afraid of one show and one woman?” she questioned, suggesting a possible orchestrated effort to undermine her success.
Etana also alluded to an overwhelming presence from the rival show’s camp, stating that they “showed up 50 strong” to intimidate and disrupt her planned performance.
“In Jamaica, to show up with a lot of people is a common thing, so crowd nuh frighten me,” she added, showcasing her resilience and refusal to be intimidated.
K24 and the event promoters are expected to release statements soon regarding ticket purchases for Etana’s show, as fans await clarity on the unfortunate turn of events. The artist expressed her concerns over the perceived sabotage of her concert, stating, “Someone has paid big money to ensure the show tonight is sabotaged!”
“I am not showing up at Platinumz show! It’s all good!”
