Tragedy struck Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa on Wednesday morning when a residential building under construction collapsed, killing seven people.
The victims were reportedly sleeping in a house located next door to the construction site.

This is not the first building collapse incident in Addis Ababa. In 2022, at least six people died and seven were injured after a building fell in Merkato, one of Africa’s biggest open markets.
Experts have suggested that poor construction quality and weak regulations might be contributing factors to these building collapses.
