Man Who Threw Facebook Lover Off A 12th Floor Apartment, Gets 5-year Jail Term

An ICT Expert sentenced to 5 years in jail for throwing a 20-year-old woman from the 12th to the 9th floors of a Nairobi city apartment.

While sentencing him, Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu stated that the victim is still receiving therapy two years after the crime occurred.

Ms Kimilu stated that the accused person’s mitigation demonstrated a commitment to rehabilitate in alcoholism and anger control.

While the crime carries a life sentence, the Principal magistrate took the convict’s age into account.

She stated that the complainant’s life had radically been altered and that she had been through counselling and treatment for the past two years.

According to the magistrate, Eunice Wangari Wakimbi suffered severe pelvic injuries after being thrown from the 12th to 9th floors of Ambank House Nairobi.

The court stated that the girl who met her Facebook boyfriend was assaulted after declining his sexual advances.

Eunice was hurt after an afternoon with Gatama, with whom she had lunch and drank Captain Morgan and a Soda.

Crispus Kabene, the accused’s defense counsel, requested mercy, claiming that the accused was repentant.

Kabene has stated that he would appeal the sentencing.

During the hearing, experts stated that the victim of abuse sustained major injuries and may never be able to conceive owing to birth canal difficulties.
