A former CIA officer, Brian Jeffrey Raymond, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for drugging and sexually assaulting nearly 30 women over a span of 14 years.
Raymond, 48, committed these crimes during his CIA postings in countries such as Mexico and Peru.
The U.S. federal court heard that Raymond used dating apps to lure women to his government-leased apartments, where he drugged them and assaulted them while they were unconscious.
Prosecutors revealed that Raymond photographed and manipulated the bodies of his victims, dating back to 2006.
Many of his victims were unaware of the assaults until FBI agents showed them photos and videos of the abuse.
One victim, describing the horror of seeing herself unconscious in Raymond’s photos, said, “My body looks like a corpse on his bed.”
In addition to the prison sentence, Raymond has been ordered to pay $10,000 to each of his 28 victims and will be registered as a sex offender for life.
The case has sparked increased scrutiny of sexual misconduct within the CIA, prompting the agency to implement reforms.
