President William Ruto has nominated several individuals to serve as Ambassadors, Consuls-General, and Deputy Heads of Mission in Kenya’s foreign missions abroad, in line with Article 132(2)(e) of the Constitution.
Among the notable nominations, former Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha Wafula has been appointed as Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the UN-Habitat in Nairobi.
Meanwhile, former Principal Secretary for Sports Eng. Peter Tum has been nominated as Kenya’s Ambassador to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Other key appointees include:
• Mr. James Buyekane Muhati – Consul-General, Guangzhou, China
• Mr. Abdi Dubat Fidhow – Consul-General, Arusha, Tanzania
• Mr. Alfred K’Ombudo Ombudo – Deputy Head of Mission, Brussels, Belgium
• Mr. Geoffrey Eyanae Kaituko – Deputy Head of Mission, Rome, Italy
Strengthening Kenya’s Diplomatic Presence
The appointments come as part of the government’s ongoing strategy to strengthen Kenya’s diplomatic engagements and enhance foreign relations.
The new envoys will be tasked with promoting trade, investment, and regional cooperation in their respective missions.
The nominees will undergo vetting by the National Assembly before their formal appointment. If approved, they will play a crucial role in advancing Kenya’s diplomatic interests on the global stage.
