Ex-Kabete MP Muchai, His Driver, And 2 Bodyguards Were Shot Five Times, Court Told

Today, the investigating officer in the murder case of former Kabete MP George Muchai, his driver, and two bodyguards informed the Court that the four were shot five times by one masked gunman in less than one minute.

The disclosure was made by the investigation officer Sergeant Moses Otiu Opiyo attached at DCI headquarters Serious Crimes Unit who told Justice Kanyi Kimondo that Muchai, his driver Stephen Wambugu and two bodyguards police Constable Samwel Lekakey and Samwel Kimathi were shot by Eric Isabwa alias Chaiman.

The officer revealed that soon after the shooting Isabwa and his co-gangster Raphael Kimani alias Kim butcher stole a Ceska pistol belonging to one Muchai’s bodyguard Lekakey which both erased the serial number to conceal its identity.

Otiu also gave a cronological order of events of how the police swung into action to unravel the heinous murder of Muchai who was killed on February 7,2015 while buying newspapers near Nyayo house.

He stated that investigations were split into three groups to conduct an in depth probe into the death of Muchai.

Further, the officer said the ceska pistol was recovered from Kimani’s house at RJoan Enterprises where the firearms serial number had also been erased.

Otiu said the officers zeroed in on the suspects using their cell phone.

He took the court through the call data which revealed the communication network which led to the arrest of five other suspects in connection to the murder.

The officer analysed the communication web between all seven suspects.
