Ex Nyatike MP Shoots Reveler In A Pub

Anyanga, who recently lost ODM nominations to Nyatike MP Tom Odege, is reported to have confronted the two and accused the victim of obstructing his political campaign.

A middle-aged man is nursing gunshot injuries in hospital after allegedly being shot by former Nyatike Member of Parliament Edick Omondi Anyanga.

According to a police report, on Saturday night, Justus Ochieng, 35, was shot by the politician just after he and a friend left a local bar in Lwanda Konyango.

Anyanga, who recently lost ODM nominations to Nyatike MP Tom Odege, is reported to have confronted the two and accused the victim of obstructing his political campaign.

He then reportedly took out a pistol and shot Ochieng on the right side of his hip before he took off.

“Mp candidate Nyatike constituency Edick Anyanga Omondi and his personnel started threatening Justus Ochieng while inside the vehicle claiming that he has been going against his political ambitions and in the process Omondi discharged his firearm shooting Justus on his right side of the hips and sustained injuries,” the police report read in part.

The victim was taken to Sori Lakeside Hospital where he is currently admitted in a stable condition.

Mr Anyanga is seeking to be Nyatike MP on UPIA party ticket.

Police officers trailed Anyanga to his home where they recovered the firearm loaded with 12 live ammunition which they kept as exhibits.

The parliamentary hopeful was not arrested as police are still conducting further investigations into the matter.

His supporters, however, claimed that he was a victim of an attempted political assassination – suggesting he fired the firearm in self-defence.
