Ex-Thika Town MP Kimani Wainaina’s Jungle Macadamia Factory Put On Auction

Auctioneers have announced the impending sale of a macadamia factory belonging to Kiambu politician Kimani Wainaina, commonly known as Jungle.

The factory, situated in Makongeni, Thika Town, Kiambu County, is set to go under the hammer, as indicated in notices published in various dailies.

Spanning 2.5 acres, the property comprises three developed blocks of terraced double-span warehouses, along with additional infrastructure such as a sentry, control rooms, and a shared canopy shed.

Detailed specifications outlined in the auction notice include various improvements to the property, encompassing prefabricated shipping container offices, steel mesh sheds, and paved parking/loading zones.

The sale extends to include plant machinery essential to the factory’s operations, featuring a nut pasteurization line, macadamia nut pasteurizer, and nut packing line, among other equipment like commercial nut cracking machines, manual stackers, and heli forklift trucks.

Prospective buyers are informed of the bidding requirements, mandating a bidding deposit of Ksh10 million to participate in the auction, payable in cash or bankers’ cheque.

The leasehold interest for the factory spans 99 years, with accrued land rates amounting to Ksh117,458 as of September 1, 2023.

Kimani Wainaina, the factory’s owner, previously served as Thika Town’s Member of Parliament before an unsuccessful bid for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat in 2022, ultimately losing to Kimani Wamatangi.
