Expressway project spares Uhuru Park, Taxpayer

The Nairobi Express road project will be constructed in the middle of the dual carriageway to and from Mlolongo.
Effectively, this means no new land parcels are required to effect the project, outside the Government, gazetted road reserve.

Conversely, there will be minimum interruption during the exercise, as the existing reserve, at certain points are more than 30 meters.
The project is approximately 27 kilometers in length.

Phase one covers 15.7kilomotres at grade level, or ground level while phase two, consisting of 11 kilometers is elevated.
Phase one runs from Mlolongo to Nexgen Mall, from where elevation all the way to James Gichuru begins.

The project is a Private Public Partnership between the China Road and Bridge Corporation(CRBC) and the Government of Kenya.
The project will ease traffic jams on Mombasa Road and Uhuru Highway…and enhance access to and from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Currently, commuters consume up to 3 hours on the 27-kilometre stretch.
It has been made worse by the increase of traffic on Langata Road, Thika Superhighway, Outering Road, Jogoo Road, and Lusaka Road.

In total, 10 interchanges will be constructed in the expressway to ease the flow.
