High Court has granted the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to freeze property worth millions belonging to a former national treasury officer

Faith Jematia Kiptis, a national treasury officer found herself on the wrong side of the law for the first time on July 19, 2022 when the EACC successfully convinced the court that Ksh 8.8 million deposited in her Equity and KCB Banks was obtained through fraud.

The court issued orders to the EACC to freeze the money.

The anti-corruption watchdog was not yet over with Faith, it again moved to the High court seeking new orders to freeze Ksh 83.4 million in her name.

On November 2, 2022 the learned lady Justice Esther Maina of the High Court’s Anti-Corruption division dealt Faith yet another blow by allowing EACC to proceed with speed and freeze the said cash on account of graft.

Further, the EACC is seeking to investigate other prime properties in the name of Faith believed to have been acquired through corruption.

The High court orders sought by EACC are prohibiting Faith Jematia Kiptis, her agents, servants or any other persons from transferring, disposing of or in any other way dealing with the said properties pending conclusion of investigations.

The orders will be in force for a period of six months.
