Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon continued her remarkable dominance in middle-distance running by winning the women’s mile at the Athlos NYC 2025 meet held in New York on October 10.
Kipyegon clocked an impressive 4:17.78, setting a new U.S. all-comers record — the fastest mile ever run by a woman on American soil.
She outpaced Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, who finished two seconds behind, to secure her second consecutive Athlos NYC title. American Nikki Hiltz claimed third place in 4:32.51.
The victory also extended Kipyegon’s unbeaten streak against Tsegay to 19 consecutive wins, reaffirming her dominance on the global stage.
In a symbolic and celebratory moment, tennis legend Serena Williams presented Kipyegon with her winner’s crown following the race.
The triumph earned the Kenyan star an estimated $250,000, including performance bonuses.
Kipyegon’s latest feat adds another milestone to her illustrious career, underscoring her status as one of the greatest middle-distance runners in athletics history and a continuing source of pride for Kenya.
