Kipyegon Triumphs In Women’s 1500m; Secures Diamond League Trophy

Faith Kipyegon, the reigning Olympic and world champion, ripped over the women’s 1500m competition on Saturday at the Prefontaine Classic, the final of the Diamond League circuit in 2023.

Kipyegon, who had just won gold in Budapest, won the Diamond League for the third time in a row in a meeting record time of 3:50.72.

“It’s been incredible, starting with the World Record and now winning the trophy.” It’s been a terrific year for me, and I’m grateful to God for it. I wasn’t paying attention to the time; I was just running my race and waiting to see what happened at the finish line. So it was incredible to run a meeting record, really incredible.” Kipyegon said.

Kipyegon’s victory in Eugene caps an outstanding season for the in-form athlete in this season’s Diamond League circuit where she shattered three world records in Florence (1500m), Paris (5000m) and Monaco (mile).
