A suspected fake city car dealer, Clinton Wambu Githinji, was today arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts for allegedly defrauding a businessman of a Mitsubishi Pajero worth Ksh 2.5 million.
Githinji, appearing before Magistrate Dolphina Alego, was charged with falsely presenting himself as an agent of Car Soko Limited and fraudulently obtaining the vehicle, registration number KCE 458N, from Fredrick Nyambare Ochieng on or about July 24, 2024.
In addition to the fraud charges, the accused was also charged with stealing Ksh 1.2 million from Ochieng, proceeds from the sale of the stolen vehicle.
The prosecution further accused him of being in possession of Ksh 1.2 million, suspected to be proceeds of crime, allegedly obtained from Alphonce Otieno.
Githinji denied all the charges and was released on a Ksh 1 million bond. The case is set for mention on a later date as investigations continue.
