A man who was charged with stealing hundreds of million from Family Bank risks spending night in custody after the court slapped him with tough bond terms.
Evans Nyamongo Bogonko was arrested on May 6, 2022 and arraigned in court today to answer charges of stealing Ksh 131.6m from the said bank on diverse dates between November 13, 2018 and August 17, 2022 at Family Bank headquarters in Nairobi.
Appearing before Magistrate Bernard Ochoi of Milimani Law courts, the accused denied having been stolen the money.
Mr. Bogonko through his Lawyer attempted convincing the court to release him on a reasonable bail terms stating that his right to be presumed innocent is enshrined in Article 50 of the constitution.
He was released on a bond of Ksh 30m with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 15m.
Case is slated to proceed on May 23, 2022.
