Muka Mukuu Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd is regaining its lost glory after more than a decade of losses and unpaid bills.
According to the society’s auditor, Daniel Muathe, lack of audits which have been skipped for thirteen years in a row plunged the society into losses.
Muathe has pushed the present administration to keep to budgets in order to prevent similar issues that occurred in the past under other management, for the benefit of society.
He has instructed them to participate in other income-generating activities, complimenting them for the stone mining activity they have begun, and to resolve certain conflicts that are in court and attorneys must be paid with society funds.
The society with over 2616 members has been collecting some of its revenue from Delmonte company, which currently has a lease for pineapple farming until 2030,and is now worth over 1billion as of the year 2021 financial year
Dominic Nthwao, the organization’s chairman, confesses that they found the society poorly managed and are now pleased with the development, saying they’ve laid a solid basis to guarantee members benefit for what is legally theirs and encouraging mediation in the leadership.
Some members, led by Jeremiah Kiiko Kyalo, express their joy at seeing the society regain its grandeur after receiving their rewards.
