Faith Mumo, a candidate hailing from a public school has emerged 2020’s top KCPE student, attaining 433 marks out of a possible 500 marks.
According to the ministry, the results were overwhelming despite the pandemic that saw a complete discarded to avert widespread COVID-19 spread.
CS Prof. George Magoha said the overwhelming 1,179,182 candidates who sat the KCPE exam, was a testament that the government’s campaign to keep children in school was success.
In terms of gender, 590,450 candidates were boys representing (50.07%) and 588,742 were girls representing (49.93%).
The top 10 KCPE students 2020 were;
1.) Mumo Faith – 433
2.) Wesonga Nanzala – 432
3.) Angel Muriithi – 432
4.) Samuel Wanyonyi – 431
5.) Castro William – 431
6.) Maureen Tarus – 431
7.) Abiud Kipkurui – 430
8.) Margaret Mwangi – 430
9.) Dennis Omondi – 429
10.) Joyce Nkatha – 429
All the students are expected to transition to secondary school in a rigorous form one selection that would take place on May 28, 2021.
